- K2 publishes twelve years from commissioning against defects in material and workmanship, extending to twenty years only where the system is verifiably planned with static verification in K2's design software and documented in its app. Cover is material and workmanship — corrosion is not a separately warranted category — and it is territorially limited to the European Union or the country where the product was first placed on the market, which is the clause to settle in writing for any UAE delivery.
K2 Systems makes mounting for pitched roofs, flat roofs, façades, ground mount and carports, with the majority of its products manufactured in the European Union. Its commercial distinguishing feature is not the extrusion — it is the free design software that produces the wind and snow load calculation, the ballast plan, the bill of materials and a signed static verification. On a UAE project that document is what a consultant and an authority having jurisdiction actually want to see.
Why it gets specified
- The design software produces a static verification and a ballast plan as a deliverable document, which turns roof approval from an argument into a submission.
- Flat-roof systems come in single-sided and east-west double-sided configurations, and on a UAE warehouse the east-west arrangement usually puts more kWp on the same membrane at a lower ballast per module.
- Structural aluminium is a published alloy specification rather than an unnamed grade, and K2 states its extrusion alloys are the class used in marine and offshore work — a relevant claim on a coastal Emirates roof.
- CE marking to EN 1090-1 with a named notified body and execution classes, plus design to the Eurocodes — the paperwork a consultant needs to accept a non-local structural product.

On a UAE project
Structure is where UAE rooftop projects actually fail approval, not where they fail electrically: a flat commercial roof here is a waterproofing membrane with a warranty on it, a live load allowance set decades ago, and a wind exposure that a coastal or open desert site makes much less forgiving than a European suburb. K2's value is that the calculation, the ballast layout and the bill of materials come out of one tool as a document a consultant can review, which is the difference between a two-week approval and a three-month one. Two commercial cautions belong on the record before anyone specifies it: K2 publishes no Gulf office and no authorised Gulf distributor, and its warranty text limits cover to the European Union or the country where the product was first placed on the market — goods bought in Europe and re-exported to the UAE may fall outside it, so that point must be settled in writing with the manufacturer before an order. K2 also publishes no temperature rating and no corrosion-class claim, so a coastal site should be specified on the published alloy and coating specification rather than on an assumed corrosion warranty.
