- A verified DeepBlue 4.0-series datasheet publishes a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty with 1% first-year and 0.4% annual degradation. JA Solar states the same first-year and annual figures for the current generation but does not publish its product term on the pages we could verify, and third-party listings quote a lower annual rate that the manufacturer does not confirm. Take the term from the stamped datasheet supplied with the quotation.
JA Solar has been making cells and modules since 2005 and runs its own n-type passivated-contact cell platform, marketed as Bycium+. Its module line is DeepBlue, with a current high-efficiency generation and a previous generation kept in production specifically for single-axis tracker projects. A storage arm, JA ESS, covers commercial and industrial systems.
Why it gets specified
- The current DeepBlue generation uses a one-third-cut cell and a twenty-busbar layout, which lowers the current per cell string and therefore the resistive loss that high cell temperature makes worse.
- The previous DeepBlue generation is deliberately still in production for one-in-portrait tracker rows, so a tracker project does not have to be redesigned around a new module geometry.
- JA Solar publishes a claim that its current encapsulation is formulated for hot, dry and dusty climates with a self-cleaning effect; it is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent test result, and is worth putting to them in writing for a specific site.
- Module capacity on the order of 100 GW a year with matched ingot, wafer and cell capacity, which is what allows a gigawatt-scale delivery programme to be phased against a construction schedule.
- Currently shipping several gigawatts of modules into a very large Abu Dhabi solar-plus-storage programme — an active, checkable Gulf reference rather than a historical one.

On a UAE project
JA Solar is the supplier to look at when a UAE project is being priced against a tracker layout that already exists, because it is one of the few large makers keeping a previous module generation in volume production for exactly that reason — you are not forced to requalify a row design to get current supply. Its cell architecture reduces string current, and lower current is the cheapest way to protect a plant from the resistive losses that 50 °C cell temperature and long DC runs across a desert plot make expensive. The company is shipping modules into an Abu Dhabi solar-plus-storage programme right now, which means its documentation pack, factory audit trail and shipping route into the country are current rather than historical. Treat the self-cleaning encapsulation claim as a question for the manufacturer rather than a design input; on a Dubai or Sharjah site the cleaning contract still has to be budgeted.
