Trina Solar
BNEF Tier 1Modules, trackers and storage from one balance sheet

- Founded
- 1997
- Warranty
- The previous-generation Vertex N datasheet publishes a 12-year product workmanship warranty and a 30-year power warranty with 1% first-year and 0.40% annual degradation; the third-generation page publishes the 30-year power term and 0.35% annual rate but not the product term. Trina's residential programme runs on different, longer product terms again. Nothing here is a range-wide figure — the datasheet for the exact SKU governs.
Trina Solar has been making modules since 1997 and today runs n-type i-TOPCon cells on the 210 mm wafer platform. Unusually among the large Chinese suppliers it also owns a serious tracker business, TrinaTracker, and a utility storage line, Elementa. For a ground-mount plant that means the module, the tracker and the battery can be procured against one set of commercial terms.
Why it gets specified
- The 210 mm cell format puts more power behind each module frame, which cuts the number of mounting points, clamps and string terminations per megawatt on a large ground-mount site.
- TrinaTracker is a separate, independently supplied product line with tens of gigawatts delivered, so a Trina module and a Trina tracker are a tested mechanical pairing rather than an assumption.
- The Elementa storage line is built around Trina's own high-capacity cell, with a published multi-megawatt-hour container and a two-hour fire-resistance rating on the current generation.
- Published temperature coefficients on the current flagship sit at the flatter end of the n-type range, which is the specification that survives a July afternoon in the Western Region.
- A documented delivery of 800 MW of modules into a two-gigawatt Abu Dhabi plant — a Gulf-scale reference published by the manufacturer itself.
Product families we supply
Vertex N
N-type i-TOPCon bifacial module, 210 mm platform
The utility workhorse; the current third-generation build is quoted per regional datasheet because the published wattage differs between Trina's own regional sites.
TrinaTracker
Single-axis tracker, independent-row and multi-row series
Where a flat Western Region plot justifies tracking, and the wind-stow strategy has to be agreed with the utility.
Elementa
Liquid-cooled utility battery container
Paired with a Trina array when the offtake obligation is firm capacity rather than energy alone.
On a UAE project
Trina's argument on a UAE ground-mount project is single-vendor coordination: when the module, the tracker and the battery come from one manufacturer, the mechanical load case, the clamp zones and the row geometry have already been reconciled in the factory rather than on site in 45 °C heat. The 210 mm format reduces the part count per megawatt, which is a direct saving on labour — the scarcest and most weather-sensitive input on a Western Region build. For coastal and island sites the relevant question is the corrosion classification and the salt-mist test on the specific datasheet, not the brand, and Trina publishes those per model. Its 800 MW delivery into a two-gigawatt Abu Dhabi plant is a matter of public record and tells a consultant that the supply chain has already passed a UAE utility's inspection regime. CoHub supplies Trina modules, trackers and storage on UAE projects through authorised channel partners.
