- Hitachi Energy publishes no standard warranty terms for transformers, switchgear, power conversion or storage; cover on this class of equipment is negotiated in the supply contract and is specific to the project, the duty and the service agreement attached to it. Any warranty position should therefore be obtained in writing at tender stage rather than inferred from a catalogue.
Hitachi Energy began operating in 2020 when Hitachi took over ABB's power grids business, and carries an engineering lineage running back through ABB to ASEA and Brown, Boveri & Cie in the nineteenth century. It makes power and distribution transformers, high- and medium-voltage switchgear, protection and control, HVDC and reactive-power compensation, and — since acquiring a Spanish power-conversion specialist — photovoltaic inverters, battery conversion systems and prefabricated medium-voltage stations. It is a grid company that serves solar, not a solar company.

Hitachi Energy is the brand on a UAE project once the conversation moves past the array to the point of common coupling — the step-up transformer, the medium-voltage station, the protection scheme and the telecom link back to the control centre. Its equipment is already installed on the country's largest solar assets and on transmission switching stations, which means the protection philosophy and the documentation format are familiar to the people who will grant the connection. The prefabricated MV station is worth weighing specifically for summer programme risk: moving substation assembly from an open Western Region site into a factory removes the weeks that heat-stress work rules and thermal shutdowns take out of a June-to-September schedule. Be aware that this is the least publicly documented brand in this list on environmental ratings — ambient design temperature, derating and corrosion classes are not published, so datasheets must be requested directly for any tender rather than assumed.
