Tesla began stationary storage in 2015 and now builds two things that matter to a solar project: Powerwall for buildings and Megapack for grid and independent-power sites. What separates Megapack from a battery container is the software — the same platform that bids Tesla fleets into electricity markets is sold with the hardware. The distinction to keep straight in the Gulf is that Megapack is offered at both fifty and sixty hertz, while Powerwall is not currently orderable in the UAE.

On a UAE project Tesla is a grid-scale conversation, not a rooftop one, and it is worth being direct about why. Megapack is published for fifty-hertz operation and connects through a medium-voltage transformer, which puts it squarely in the same class of decision as a utility substation asset — programme, civil works, protection coordination and a utility witness test. Powerwall is a different matter: Tesla itself states on its UAE page that it is not yet available to order here, and a three-phase fifty-hertz variant is published only for a short list of European markets, so a villa storage enquiry in Dubai should be answered with a product that is actually sold and warranted in the country rather than with an import. The honest summary for a client is that Tesla brings strong software and a published fifty-hertz grid product, and no Gulf service organisation of the kind Schneider or Hitachi Energy operate — which makes the service agreement, not the datasheet, the thing to negotiate.
