- Victron publishes five years on most electronics from purchase by the original end user, with lead-acid batteries at two years and lithium at three, subject to proof of correct use. An extension of a further five years is available for a percentage surcharge if applied for before expiry. The policy is business-to-business — the direct buyer must pass an equivalent warranty to the end user — and it excludes use in inappropriate environments, naming dust, corrosive vapour, humidity and high temperature.
Victron Energy has made inverter/chargers, solar charge controllers and off-grid system components in the Netherlands since 1975. Its market is marine, vehicles, telecoms, remote industry and anywhere the grid is absent, weak or diesel-backed — which in the UAE means desert camps, farms, offshore assets, construction sites and remote telecom and pumping stations. Its system components are unusually well documented and designed to be combined rather than bought as a sealed package.
Why it gets specified
- Victron publishes continuous-output figures at 25, 40 and 65 °C on the datasheet, so an off-grid system can be sized against the temperature it will actually see inside a container in July instead of a laboratory rating.
- Inverter/charger units combine grid or generator input, battery charging, transfer and inverting in one device, which is the shortest path to a diesel-hybrid retrofit on a site that already has a generator.
- The monitoring layer is free and open: system data reaches a remote portal without a subscription tier, which for a client running twenty dispersed pumping or telecom sites is a real operating-cost difference.
- Charge controllers and inverters are sized in small increments and parallel cleanly, so a remote site can be expanded in stages as the load grows rather than replaced.
- The lithium range permits charging only within a defined temperature window, which is a hard design constraint in the Gulf and the reason a battery enclosure needs cooling or shading rather than just an IP rating.

On a UAE project
Victron is the answer when the UAE site has no utility connection at all, or has one that fails often enough to matter — a farm in Al Ain, a quarry in Ras Al Khaimah, a telecom hut on a jebel, a labour camp ahead of the permanent supply, a workboat in Mina Rashid. Its real advantage here is that the whole system is specified from components with published derating figures, which means a designer can size honestly for a container interior at 55 °C rather than hoping the nameplate holds. Two constraints must be designed around and neither is a defect: the lithium batteries accept charge only within a defined temperature window, so the battery space needs active cooling or serious shading; and the warranty explicitly excludes use in an inappropriate environment including dust and high temperature, which makes enclosure selection a warranty question and not just an IP number. Note also that Victron's warranty is business-to-business and must be passed through to the end user, so the paperwork chain matters on a UAE project.
