- The residential Battery-Box Premium range is published at ten years to a stated residual share of usable energy, or a per-model minimum energy throughput, whichever comes first. BYD issues separate warranty documents by region and the terms differ between them, so the edition that applies to a UAE installation must be confirmed before it is quoted. Utility container terms are contract-specific and are not published.
BYD began as a battery manufacturer in 1995 and moved into stationary storage from 2008; today it makes the lithium-iron-phosphate cells, the modules, the racks and the containers. Its residential and light-commercial line is Battery-Box; its utility line runs from the MC Cube cabinet up to very large containerised blocks. Because the cell is its own, BYD is one of very few storage suppliers where a capacity or degradation question has a single answer rather than a cell-vendor caveat.
Why it gets specified
- Cell, module, rack and enclosure are all BYD's, so a capacity-retention dispute does not turn into a three-way argument between an integrator, a cell supplier and an installer.
- Lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry across the range, which trades a little energy density for a markedly higher thermal-runaway threshold — the correct trade in a plant room or a rooftop enclosure that sits at 45 °C ambient for months.
- The residential range is modular in both high-voltage and low-voltage configurations, so it can be matched to a hybrid inverter that is already specified rather than dictating the inverter choice.
- Published warranty terms for the residential range state both a year count and a minimum energy throughput per model, which lets an operator model the warranty against a real cycling profile instead of a marketing cycle count.
- Contracted to supply battery capacity at multi-gigawatt-hour scale into Abu Dhabi and Saudi utility storage programmes — the largest Gulf storage commitments of any manufacturer in this list, and the brand's own record.

On a UAE project
On a UAE site the deciding question for a battery is thermal, not electrical: a pack that is cycled hard in a 45 °C plant room ages on a curve set by cell temperature, and lithium-iron-phosphate plus liquid cooling is the combination that keeps that curve flat enough to underwrite. BYD's vertical integration matters commercially because the warranty is written by the company that made the cell, so a degradation claim has one addressee. For villa and small-commercial work the Battery-Box range pairs with hybrid inverters that are already common in the Emirates, which keeps the design conventional and the spares obtainable. At the other end, BYD holds the largest contracted Gulf storage commitments of any manufacturer here — a track record that belongs to BYD, and one a consultant can verify independently.
