- Inverters are sold with a five-year standard term in most markets, extendable for a fee, with several European markets carrying longer standard cover. Residential storage is published with a basic term of five years and an extended term of fifteen years conditional on the system staying connected to the manufacturer's cloud, or a minimum energy throughput, whichever comes first. Commercial storage adds a long coolant-service commitment. Ask for the UAE schedule in writing, as it is neither the European nor the Chinese one.
Huawei has made solar inverters since 2013, applying its telecoms power engineering to string conversion, module-level optimisation and battery systems under the FusionSolar brand. Its inverters are sold as Smart PV Controllers, its storage as Smart String ESS, and both report into one management platform. It sits at or near the top of global inverter shipment rankings alongside Sungrow.
Why it gets specified
- Storage is architected per battery string rather than per rack, so a weak or failed string is isolated instead of derating the whole block — the difference shows up in availability figures across a Gulf summer, not in the datasheet.
- Module-level optimisers are optional add-ons rather than a mandatory architecture, so a clean warehouse roof can be strung conventionally and only a shaded or multi-azimuth roof pays for the extra hardware.
- Grid-forming capability is a published product characteristic on the current utility generation, which is what a utility asks about when distributed generation starts to displace synchronous machines on a feeder.
- The monitoring platform is the same one used across Huawei's power estate, which means string-level diagnostics and remote firmware management are the normal mode of operation rather than a paid tier.
- The company runs a Middle East and Central Asia organisation and launches its regional product generations from Dubai, so firmware, grid-code profiles and training reach the Gulf on the same cycle as Europe.

On a UAE project
Huawei's advantage on a UAE project is diagnostic depth: when a 2 MW roof underperforms by four per cent, string-level telemetry tells you within a day whether it is soiling, a shading change from new plant on the roof, a connector fault or a single failed optimiser — and in a market where a site visit costs a half-day in traffic, that is an operating-cost argument, not a feature. Grid-forming behaviour on the utility line is worth raising early with the utility, because distributed-generation connection rules in the Emirates are tightening as penetration rises and the conversation is easier when the product already answers it. One fact a consultant will raise and that should be answered plainly: Huawei is restricted from the United States market on national-security grounds, and none of those restrictions apply to sale, import or installation in the UAE — the relevant approval here is the emirate utility's equipment list and Emirates conformity marking. Regional product generations launch from Dubai, so firmware and grid-code profiles arrive on a Gulf cycle.
