A battery pays in the UAE when it prevents costly outages, displaces diesel, or stores solar a night-heavy load would otherwise export for a credit. Classic demand-charge peak shaving usually does not apply, because most UAE business tariffs are charged per kWh with no per-kW demand line. Check your own bill first.
- Peak shaving attacks demand charges, billed per kW or kVA of highest short-interval demand; if your bill has no per-kW line, shaving the peak saves nothing directly.
- UAE business tariffs are largely energy-based per kWh with a separate fuel surcharge, so shifting consumption on a flat tariff slightly increases your bill once round-trip losses are counted — the exception being time-of-use arrangements such as Abu Dhabi's published large-industrial peak and off-peak rates.
- Size a battery in two dimensions at once: kW of instantaneous load from a measured profile, and kWh of duration, plus the C-rate, because fast discharge runs hotter and ages the cells faster.
